After months of leaks and rumors about the upcoming Pixel 9 series, Google has finally made it official by sending out invites for the launch of the upcoming Pixel 9 series of devices. While the exact number of devices that will be unveiled on the day remains a mystery, we do know that the main report will take place on August 13, which is much earlier than Google’s usual October schedule for its Pixel devices. According to the web page set up for the US Google Store, the event is set for August 13th at 10am PT.
According to the details on the event page, Google did not directly mention that it will announce any devices during the presentation. As always, the focus is on AI (read Magic). However, the teaser video shows a silhouette of what appears to be Pixel 9 smartphones with a new visor camera design, as rumored over the past couple of months.
The phone in the teaser video could be the Pixel 9 Pro or the Pixel 9 Pro XL, both of which feature the same three rear cameras in a new capsule-shaped camera module that’s a departure from the traditional visor shape. the (side-to-side) camera module that has graced Pixel devices since the launch of the Pixel 6 series.
Meanwhile, Google also released the same teaser of the same device on its social media channels in India, hinting that the same phones will also be coming to India, just like the Pixel 8 series of devices, which currently includes the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro and the recently launched Pixel 8a (technically an A series device). However, the India teaser says that the phone will be launched in India on August 14.
While speculation is rife about what will be unveiled at this upcoming event, we can now confirm (thanks to a teaser) that Google will announce, or at least reveal, its Pixel 9 lineup, which according to leaks and rumors also includes an XL size larger model this year. All the phones are expected to be powered by the new Tensor G4 SoC, which according to a recent report will still be manufactured by Samsung.
A new foldable device from Google has also been rumored for the past few weeks, labeled as the Pixel Fold 2. Based on the leaked details and images, it is expected to have a completely new design and a (square) look. ratio for the main display, which will significantly differentiate it from the more rectangular Pixel Fold.
There have also been reports recently of a new Pixel Watch 3. The Pixel Watch 3 is also slated to launch alongside the Pixel Watch 3 XL this year, which will have a larger display and possibly a larger battery with a different strap attachment system. The design of the Pixel Watch 3 XL is said to be very similar to the standard Pixel Watch 3, which is expected to be similar to the Pixel Watch 2, which is currently on sale in India.
