Capcom confirmed on Wednesday that Monster Hunter Wilds will be open beta testing on all platforms next week. The open beta period will run from October 31 to November 3 for players on PC (Steam), PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. PlayStation Plus members will get early access to the open beta starting October 28, the publisher said. The open beta will feature an early chapter of the action RPG, which will include character creation, a story challenge, and monster hunting.

Monster Hunter Wilds open beta announced

Capcom has announced that the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta will be online only and will feature cross-platform play. “The purpose of this test is to allow players to experience a limited portion of Monster Hunter Wilds and to test various technical aspects such as network load and general performance before the game’s full release,” the publisher said in its announcement.

In the open beta, players will have access to the full character creation menu that will be present in the full game at launch. During the challenge, players will be able to customize their characters as many times as they like. Capcom has announced that open beta testers will be able to transfer their character creation data to the full game. The character creation menu will allow players to create their very own hunter and feline companion, Palico.

Beta testers will also be able to experience the opening scene and the Chatakabra hunt, which provides basic combat instructions. In addition, the open beta will also include a Doshaguma hunt where players must defeat the alpha version of the Doshaguma pack. During a mission, testers will be able to explore the location on their Secret Mount and switch between two different weapon types.

During both quests, players can use the SOS flare to play with other players online, or have up to three NPC support hunters join your hunting party. Capcom has announced that the multiplayer game will have crossplay support during open beta testing.

Players who participate in the open beta test will also receive bonuses that can be obtained in the full version of the game.

Open beta testing time

For PlayStation Plus subscribers, the open beta test begins on Monday, October 28 at 8:00 PM PT (Tuesday, October 9 at 8:30 AM IST). The early access phase of the open beta will run until Wednesday, October 30 at 7:59 PM PT (Thursday, October 31 at 8:29 AM IST).

For all other players on Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X, the open beta will begin on Thursday, October 31 at 8:00 PM PT (Friday, November 1 at 8:30 AM PT) and end at on Sunday, November 3 at 6:59 PM PT. (Monday, November 4 at 8:29 am IST – Daylight Savings Time adjusted).

Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X on February 28, 2025. The game is currently available for pre-order on all supported platforms.
