The Honor X9c could be launched soon as the company announces a new “most rugged” smartphone

Honor has announced the launch of its upcoming smartphone in Malaysia. The alleged phone has been called the “toughest yet”, hinting that a potential successor to the Honor X9b could be on the cards. While details about the device have not been released, the Chinese smartphone maker has teased a ‘C’ that could be part of its nickname. Notably, the Honor X9b, which was launched in India in February, comes with Ultra-Bounce Anti Drop display technology, which has been designed to absorb the impact of drops up to 1.2 times.

According to Honor Malaysia, the purported “most sophisticated” smartphone will initially be available through the Beta Experiencer program. The phone may be named Honor X9c, as the company claims. It is noteworthy that this is the first ever mention of a smartphone from the company.

Although its launch has been teased, no specifications of the smartphone have been revealed so far. It is believed to be based on the features of the Honor X9b.

Technical characteristics of Honor X9b

The Honor X9b features a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1200×2652 pixels. It has got an Ultra-Bounce Anti Drop display which is claimed to withstand drops from a height of up to 1.5m. The smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset coupled with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS storage 3.1.

For optics, it sports a triple primary camera that includes a 108-megapixel primary camera, a 5-megapixel wide-angle lens, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. It has a 16-megapixel selfie camera. The phone also offers an in-display fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.

The smartphone is equipped with a 5800 mAh battery with support for 35 W wired fast charging. In terms of connectivity, it supports 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC and a USB Type-C port. The Honor X9b has an IP53 protection class against dust and water penetration. It is available in two colors: Midnight Black and Sunrise Orange.
