The Google Meet update brings a new calling interface with contact suggestions to all users

Google Meet is reportedly rolling out a new interface to display calls to all users. This change was first rolled out last year, but was only available to those with a business account. The new call screen introduces a new pill-shaped search bar at the top and also offers contact suggestions. Notably, this development comes after Google unveiled a new artificial intelligence (AI) feature for Meet that will enable AI-generated notes after a meeting ends.

The new Google Meet calling interface has begun rolling out to Android users (via 9to5Google ). Along with a new pill-shaped search bar, larger buttons for creating and scheduling meetings and creating a group have been redesigned. In addition, Google Meet now offers users suggestions for online calls.

These suggestions are based on their interactions, such as contacts with a star or recently sent emails, according to Google. Along with the new user interface, Google also introduced a new shortcut on the home screen that can be used to start meetings by entering a code. Appears as a Encode option, with a touch users can enter a meeting code to start it.

These changes are part of the Google Meet 266 update available for download. Gadgets 360 staff members were able to check out the new interface on Google Meet for Android, but couldn’t spot it on Google Meet for iOS.

Google has introduced several new features to its virtual meetings platform over the past few months. This includes exclusive functionality for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold that allows users to use the foldable smartphone’s internal and external cameras simultaneously during a video conference.

Another recent addition is the ‘Take Notes for Me’ feature, which is available to Google Workspace users who have Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium or AI Meetings & Messaging add-ons. It provides AI-generated meeting notes and can generate full transcriptions, but the latter must be manually enabled.
