Star Wars Outlaws Gameplay Details Ship Battle Details Stealth

Star Wars has a rich legacy in the video game world. Most of the games in the iconic epic space opera franchise focus on Jedi fantasy, allowing players to wield lightsabers and become one with the force. But few have allowed players to become Han Solo-like Rogues—rogue smugglers who take on dangerous odd jobs and contracts. Star Wars Outlaws promises just that. Now, Ubisoft’s upcoming action-adventure, which puts players in the shoes of villain Kay Wess, has been given a 10-minute deep-dive gameplay demo, detailing aerial and blaster combat, traversing and exploring, and more.

Star Wars Outlaws gameplay demo

At Ubisoft Forward on Monday, the publisher unveiled a gameplay demo of Star Wars Outlaws, in which protagonist Kay Wess went on a mission to Mos Eisley on Tatooine to track down a shooter. According to game director Mathias Karlsson, players will have to explore the galaxy to find such experts to help Kay gain new skills. An experienced marksman on Tatooine will help her improve her blaster skills.

In the gameplay demo, we see Kay take off from the trading station in her Voyager ship and travel through space. On her way to Tatooine, she encounters pirate starfighters and engages in dogfights. We then see Wess land in Mos Eisley, a hotbed of crooks and scoundrels. Her information leads her to a warehouse controlled by the Hutt cartel. She scouts the camp, sneaks in and quietly takes out a few enemies. She finds the information she needs and escapes after the shootout to meet the skilled shooter.

Overview trailer for Star Wars Outlaws

At the presentation, Ubisoft also unveiled a four-minute Star Wars Outlaw preview trailer. The new trailer tells the story of Kay and her companion Nyx’s past, the adventures they embark on together, and the open world that players can explore.

The upcoming action-adventure game will feature a variety of biomes to explore, allowing players to interact with different environments and the dangers that come with them. Set in the golden age of the underworld, the game will allow players to deal with various criminal syndicates and gangs, gain favor or be wanted.

Promising to be a fully-fledged open-world adventure, Ubisoft’s upcoming title aims to carve its own space among the many popular Star Wars titles. Recent games in the franchise, like Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, take a hand-to-hand combat approach, adding Soulslike mechanics to lightsaber combat. But a fully explorable open-world Star Wars game, with blaster and ship combat and an emphasis on exploration, could bring a special flavor to the franchise.

Star Wars Outlaws releases on August 30th for PC, Xbox Series S/X, and PS5. Players will get three days of early access starting August 27 with a Ubisoft+ Premium subscription or pre-order of Gold or Ultimate Editions.
