Earlier this year, Samsung introduced the Galaxy XCover 7 with an IP68-certified construction and military-grade durability (MIL-STD-810H). The Galaxy XCover 8 Pro is said to be currently in development as the next model in the company’s rugged phone lineup. Samsung also seems to be working on a new protected tablet alongside the new Galaxy XCover model. The specifications of the devices are currently unclear, but they are expected to be introduced next year. The Galaxy XCover 8 Pro is likely to debut as the successor to the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro.
Samsung is reportedly testing a new phone
According to a report by GalaxyClub, Samsung is currently testing a phone with model number SM-G766B. This model number matches the model name of the previous Galaxy XCover Pro smartphones, and based on this, the publication claims that the Galaxy XCover 8 Pro is in the works.
The Galaxy XCover 6 Pro was reported to have the model number SM-G736B, while the Galaxy XCover 7 is associated with the model number SM-G556B. It is said that the Galaxy XCover 8 Pro will be released next year after the launch of the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy A56.
Along with the Galaxy XCover 8 Pro, Samsung is said to be working on a new rugged tablet, the Galaxy Tab Active. The upcoming tablet is reportedly a Pro version of the Galaxy Tab Active 5 that was launched alongside the Galaxy XCover 7 earlier this year. It is rumored to be called the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro or possibly the Galaxy Tab Active 6 Pro.
The Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro or Galaxy Tab Active 6 Pro are rumored to arrive around mid-2025, around the same time as the Galaxy XCover 8 Pro.
The Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 was launched in India in February at a price of Rs. 27,208. As mentioned, it has an IP68 certified construction and military grade durability (MIL-STD-810H). It has a single 50MP rear camera and is backed by a 4050mAh battery.
