The Samsung Galaxy A56 is said to be in development as a successor to the Galaxy A55 that debuted in India in March. Ahead of the launch, the alleged phone has been spotted on the benchmarking platform’s database boasting specs such as the Exynos 1580 chipset and the new Android 15 operating system (OS). Notably, this development comes weeks after the web the IMEI site found a link to the same device with a chipset codenamed “Santa”.

Samsung Galaxy A56 Geekbench listing

The Samsung Galaxy A56 has been spotted on Geekbench and several of its specifications have been revealed. It is said to have the model number SM-A566B, similar to the previous one. Its chipset, which is speculated to be the new Samsung Exynos 1580 SoC processor system, includes eight cores: one base core clocked at 2.91GHz, three middle cores with a maximum frequency of 2.60GHz and four efficient cores that operate at a frequency of 1.95 GHz.

The alleged phone may have around 6.67GB of RAM and an ARMv8 architecture. Notably, it also runs on Android 15, which is yet to be released for Samsung smartphones.

In the Geekbench 6.2.2 cross-platform benchmark, the rumored Samsung Galaxy A56 scored 1,353 and 3,832 single and multi-core scores, respectively. These figures are slightly higher than the previously reported results of the Exynos 1580 standalone test, which were 1046 in the single-core test and 3678 in the multi-core test.

IMEI list

According to the report, the alleged Samsung Galaxy A56 has appeared in the IMEI database with the model number SM-A566B/DS. It is expected to debut with Samsung’s new Exynos 1580 mid-range chipset, which is reportedly codenamed “Santa” and could compete with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor. The chip is expected to offer a significant performance boost over the Exynos 1480 processor that powers the Galaxy A55 5G.

While no release date has been announced, the alleged handset could follow the Galaxy A55’s launch schedule and debut in the first quarter of next year.
