Samsung has quietly released its latest mobile processor called the Exynos 1580, which is the successor to the Exynos 1480. It was developed by Samsung’s own Semiconductor and manufactured using a 4-nanometer process. The octa-core chipset supports cameras with a resolution of up to 200 megapixels, artificial intelligence (AI) functions and a neural processor (NPU) with a processing power of 14.7 TOPS. Samsung claims it can deliver up to a 37 percent increase in GPU performance.
Notably, the Samsung Galaxy A56 5G is one of the rumored smartphones expected to run on this chipset.
Features of the Samsung Exynos 1580 chipset
According to Samsung, the Exynos 1580 chipset comes with updated ARM v9 cores and a new tri-cluster architecture. It contains one main Cortex-A720 core clocked at 2.9GHz, three Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 2.6GHz and four Cortex-A520 cores clocked at 1.95GHz. The Exynos 1580 supports LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It features an NPU that supports up to 14.7 trillion operations per second (TOPS) and an upgraded memory capacity of 2MB.
The chipset is paired with Samsung’s third-generation Xclipse 540 GPU, which is claimed to deliver a maximum performance boost of up to 37 percent. The CPU’s GPU now has two Workgroup Processors (WGP), increased GL2 cache volume, and double the amount of texture block processing.

As for optics, the new Samsung chipset supports cameras with a resolution of up to 200 megapixels. It is claimed to offer improved temporal noise cancellation (TNR) performance thanks to a new motion refinement function and large sum of absolute differences (SAD). According to Samsung, thanks to these updates, users will be able to shoot videos with less noise in low light conditions.
