Resident Evil 2 will be released on Apple devices on December 31st. The 2019 remake of the classic survival-horror series is available for pre-order on the App Store. The App Store listing for Resident Evil 2 says the game is expected to launch on December 31st. The remake will be playable on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 series, as well as iPad and MacBook models running on M1 chipsets or later. . The early part of the game will be available to play for free, but users will have to make an in-app purchase to access the full game.

Resident Evil 2 will support Universal Purchase, meaning that once purchased, the game will be playable on compatible Apple devices. However, the App Store listing confirms that saved data cannot be transferred between macOS and iOS devices. The remake of Resident Evil 2 will take about 31 GB of memory. It’s also worth noting that the installation process will require the device to have at least twice as much free storage as the app. Although the game can be played using touch controls on iPad and iPhone, Apple recommends using a controller for the best experience.

Resident Evil 2 has been confirmed to be in development for Apple devices in June. So far, Capcom has released Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil: Village, and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS as part of Apple’s push to bring more triple-A games to its devices. In addition to Capcom’s iconic survival-horror series , Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding are also available for iPhone, iPad and Mac.

But those triple-A console games reportedly didn’t sell well on Apple’s platform. A report from mobilegamer.biz in June claimed that the Resident Evil 4 remake had been installed 3,57,000 times on iPhone, but only about 7,000 people had paid to access the full game.

Capcom confirmed in July that the next Resident Evil game is in development, and will be helmed by Resident Evil 7: Biohazard director Koshi Nakanishi.
