Ray-Ban Meta Glasses Get support for real-time video queries and other AI features

Meta Platforms announced several significant updates to its Ray-Ban Meta eyewear at its Connect event on Wednesday. One of the most notable additions is the video capability that allows the user to search for information about landmarks and other places they see in real time. The company has also made conversations with Meta AI – its artificial intelligence (AI) assistant – easier, thanks to new wake-up commands, among other new features.

In a blog post, the company announced that Ray-Ban Meta glasses now support waking up via the “Hey Meta” command, while users will also be able to ask follow-up questions without repeating themselves. The update also makes redundant the “look and” command that was previously used in general Q&A conversations or to identify what they were looking at.

They can also set reminders via voice prompts. Meta says his glasses will now be able to remember things. For example, it will remember where the user parked their vehicle at the airport.

The company is also adding video capabilities to Ray-Ban Meta glasses. While exploring locations, users can now ask the smart glasses to identify landmarks or famous places in real time, effectively acting as a virtual tour guide. While grocery shopping, they can ask Ray-Ban Meta Glasses to make cooking suggestions based on the ingredients they’re looking at.

Meta is advancing its partnerships with Spotify and Amazon Music, and announced new ones with Audible and iHeart. Users can ask the glasses to search for records and provide additional information.

Special edition glasses

In addition to the software update, a new special edition Ray-Ban Meta eyewear was also announced. The new option is called Shiny Transparent. As the name suggests, they have a transparent design that shows some of the internal parts. Along with these glasses comes EssilorLuxottica’s new line of UltraTransitions GEN S lenses. They come with Clear to Sapphire Transitions lens color options.

However, the new glasses are only available in the standard size, priced at $429 (roughly Rs. 36,000).
