Oppo Reno 12, Oppo Reno 12 Pro global launch date set for June 18; Features of AI were teased

Oppo Reno 12 and Oppo Reno 12 Pro with MediaTek Dimensity SoCs were launched in China last month. Oppo has now announced the launch date of the Reno 12 series for global markets. These phones should support several generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) features, including AI Portrait and AI LinkBoost. The Chinese variants of the Oppo Reno 12 come with a 50-megapixel triple rear camera and a 50-megapixel front-facing camera. They come with ColorOS 14 based on Android 14 and have IP65 protection.

Oppo Reno 12 series launch details

With the help of a teaser video on YouTube, Oppo announced the release of the Oppo Reno 12 series to global markets. The presentation will take place on June 18 in Ibiza, Spain. Future phones are expected to offer generative AI features such as AI Portrait and AI LinkBoost. They are now up for pre-order in Malaysia.

The Oppo Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro were launched in the Chinese market in May at a starting price of CNY 2,699 (roughly Rs. 31,000) and CNY 3,399 (roughly Rs. 39,000), respectively. The upcoming global variants are expected to get a few changes under the hood.

Oppo Reno 12 Series Specifications (Expected)

The Chinese variants of the Oppo Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro run on Android 14 ColorOS 14 and feature 6.7-inch Full HD+ 1.5K curved OLED displays with a 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. The vanilla model runs on 4 -nm octa-core processor MediaTek Dimensity 8250 Star Speed ​​Edition SoC, and the Pro version is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ Star Speed ​​Edition chipset. They are equipped with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512 GB of built-in UFS 3.1 memory.

Both the Oppo Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro feature 50-megapixel primary sensors along with 50-megapixel telephoto and 8-megapixel ultra-wide cameras. The Vanilla model has a Sony LYT-600 primary sensor, while the Reno 12 Pro has a Sony IMX890 primary sensor. Both phones are equipped with a 50-megapixel front-facing camera. Both Oppo Reno 12 models are equipped with 5000 mAh batteries with support for 80 W SuperVOOC fast charging.
