Change of leadership in Wolverine

Horton has not been involved with Marvel’s Wolverine since this summer, Game File reported Wednesday, citing two sources familiar with the matter. The PS5 exclusive now has a new creative director in Marcus Smith of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), Game File has confirmed.

In addition, Marvel’s Wolverine also has a new occupant in the director’s chair. Mike Daly has reportedly replaced Cameron Christian. The report claimed that Christian will remain with Insomniac Games, albeit in a different role. While the reasons for the management shakeup have not been clarified, sources told the publication that the changes came about due to creative decisions surrounding Wolverine.

Smith and Daly previously served as creative director and game director, respectively, on Insomniac Games’ Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which is coming to PS5 in 2021.

Meanwhile, Horton has reportedly taken over as creative director for Xbox Perfect Dark, the report said. The first-person shooter reboot, currently in development by Microsoft-backed The Initiative and Embracer Group-owned Crystal Dynamics, was announced at The Game Awards 2020, and earlier this year at the Xbox Games Showcase in June, it received its first gameplay trailer. process Horton previously served as creative director on Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

In December 2023, development footage, storyboards, concept art, plot details, release timeline information, and other details from Marvel’s Wolverine were leaked online following a massive ransomware hack at Insomniac. The malicious attack also leaked the personal information of several Insomniac employees. In addition to the gameplay, the leak seemingly included a Wolverine bootloader with the main menu and select sections called “Vertical Fragment”.
