Hazelight, developer of A Way Out and It Takes Two, has been working on the next title. Now a reliable leaker has shared the supposed title of the game. Hazelight’s next game will be called Split Fiction, a leaker claimed on Monday. The news comes after Hazelight founder Joseph Fares, of It Takes Two fame writer/director, revealed the studio’s next game on X (formerly Twitter) last week, with Hazelight later confirming that the title will be a new IP published under EA. The next game from Hazelight Studios
Following teasers from Fares and the studio, notorious leaker billbil-kun revealed on Monday that Hazelight Studios’ next game is called Split Fiction. In the Dealands report, the whistleblower said the game had been in development for at least two years.
The claim coincides with a teaser released by Fares on X last week. Fares, who wrote and directed games such as Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, A Way Out and It Takes Two, revealed the initials of the game’s full title in his post. “We get a lot of questions about the next game. Here’s a tease. This is a BRAND NEW IP called S**** ******N. Can’t wait to show it off soon,” Fares said.
Following its publication on October 17, Hazelight Studios released an image of the document, confirming that the new IP is in development and EA Originals as the publisher. The image also contained several stickers that contained details about the game. As the name “Split Fiction” suggests, the game is likely to be a dynamic split-screen co-op title similar to A Way Out and It Takes Two.
Fares and Hazelight have yet to confirm a launch schedule for the game, but the official title of the in-development title and other details will likely be revealed soon.
The confirmation of Hazelight’s next game comes just a day after the studio revealed that its last game, It Takes Two, had sold more than 20 million units. It Takes Two is a co-op action-adventure platformer that follows the adventures of a downtrodden couple through challenging levels created in their home. The game was hailed for its diverse gameplay, winning Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2021.
