iPhone ports of Resident Evil, Death Stranding, Assassin’s Creed Mirage sold poorly: report

The iPhone 15 Pro arrived last year, promising hardware capable of running triple-A games on mobile platforms. Since then, several console games have been released for iOS, including games from the Resident Evil franchise, Death Stranding and, most recently, Assassin’s Creed Mirage. It turns out that these main titles have not found many iPhone users. Triple-A console games released on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and some iPad models have failed commercially, according to a new report.

According to an analysis by mobilegamer.biz, the number of iPhone users who pay full price to unlock these games outside of the early free games section is small. The prices of these games can reach up to Rs. 3,999 in India, but they are often initially offered at a 50 percent discount on the App Store.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage on iPhone

According to the report’s estimates, based on Appfigures estimates, less than 3,000 users paid $49.99 to fully unlock Assassin’s Creed Mirage on the iPhone 15 Pro. The Ubisoft game has reportedly been downloaded approximately 1,23,000 times from the App Store, with an estimated gross of $138,000 (approximately Rs. 1,15,30,452). These numbers pale in comparison to free-to-play mobile storefront games, which often have millions of downloads.

The action-adventure was launched on Apple devices on June 6. Although the introductory section of the game is available for free, players need to purchase the game from the App Store to play the game in its entirety. Until June 20, Assassin’s Creed Mirage was available for Rs. 1,749 after 50 percent discount.

Other triple-rated titles such as Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Village, and Death Stranding Director’s Cut also failed to fare well. According to estimates mentioned in the report, Resident Evil 4 Remake, which was released on Apple devices in December last year, has been installed 3,57,000 times and grossed an estimated $208,000 (approximately Rs. 1,73,79,024). According to the report, the price of the game suggests that about 7,000 people have paid to access the full game since it launched on iPhone.

Resident Evil Village, on the other hand, recorded 3,70,000 App Store downloads with an estimated revenue of $92,000 (approximately Rs. 76,86,692). Data based on the game’s pricing suggests that only about 5,750 users have paid to unlock the full game. The Death Stranding Director’s Cut, which was ported to Apple devices by 505 Games in January, grossed an estimated $212,000 (roughly Rs. 17712812).

A separate set of downloads and revenue data provided in the report based on Appmagic’s estimates paints a slightly more positive picture. According to these estimates, Assassin’s Creed Mirage recorded $221,000 (approx. Rs. 184,64,992) in revenue from 279,000 downloads, while Resident Evil 4 had 710,000 installs since launch, making it around $347,000 (approx. Rs. 2). 89,92,544) as of today for publisher Capcom. Data suggests that only 15,000 people have paid to fully unlock the survival-horror game.

Resident Evil Village, on the other hand, has 8,17,000 downloads, generating $420,000 (approximately Rs. 3,50,91,840) in revenue. Finally, Death Stranding has collected $348,000 (approx. Rs. 2,90,75,748) in revenue since its launch on iPhone earlier this year, with an estimated 23,000 downloads.
