iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to get an updated 48-megapixel main and ultra-wide cameras

Apple’s September release window for the iPhone 16 series is still a few months away, but there are already plenty of rumors floating around the web hinting at some notable upgrades. A Chinese whistleblower recently suggested that the iPhone 16 Pro models will receive notable camera upgrades this year. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are said to feature a 48-megapixel primary camera and an ultra-wide-angle camera.

According to OvO tipster Baby Sauce OvO (translated from Chinese), the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have an improved 48-megapixel Sony IMX903 main camera, while the iPhone 16 Pro is said to use a 48-megapixel Sony IMX803 sensor. This sensor is also available on existing iPhone 15 Pro models.

Meanwhile, both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are tipped to get 48-megapixel ultra-wide cameras. This would be a significant upgrade over the 12MP camera in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. In addition, the speaker claims that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a 5x telephoto camera, unchanged from the previous generation. The iPhone 16 Pro telephoto sensor can be updated up to 5 times.

A new leak confirms Ming-Chi Kuo’s predictions for a camera update for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models.

There was another leak recently that suggested a battery upgrade for the iPhone 16 series. The iPhone 16 Pro Max may have a 4,676 mAh battery, while the iPhone 16 Pro may have a 3,355 mAh battery. The iPhone 16 is said to pack a 3,561 mAh battery, while the iPhone 16 Plus is said to pack a 4,006 mAh battery. The vanilla models are expected to be powered by the A18 Bionic chip based on TSMC’s 3nm process, while the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max could get the A18 Pro chip.

iPhone 16 Pro models can be offered in black, white (or silver), gray and pink shades. The vanilla models are expected to come in black, white, green, pink, and blue.
