iOS 18 gets a new frame animation, the “Add to Queue” option in Apple Music

With iOS 18, Apple is introducing several quality-of-life changes aimed at improving iPhone functionality. Announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 on Monday, the next big update to Apple’s mobile operating system brings two notable new features – new animations that appear when physical buttons are pressed, and new improvements to Apple Music. . Both of these were introduced in iOS 18 Developer Beta 1.

New features in iOS 18

The first feature aims to improve the visual element of iOS 18. When a user adjusts the volume or uses the power button on the iPhone, the part of the frame that is adjacent to the buttons appears to protrude into the display. It also appears when using the Action button, but this only applies to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Apple Music also got a new option that allows users to more conveniently add tracks to a queue. A new “Add songs to queue” option now appears at the bottom of the queue, replacing the “Play last” option.

In addition, the iPhone maker has finally added a feature that allows users to change tracks without discarding the entire queue. Another notable change is allowing users to clear the entire queue at once.

All of the above features were rolled out with the iOS 18 Developer Beta 1 update, and iPhone XR and later users can access them by installing the update. Gadgets 360 employees were able to check their availability.

To access these and other features, users will need to enroll in the Apple Developer Program. While it used to require an annual fee of $99 (roughly Rs. 8,000), Apple made it free for everyone in June 2023.

However, it should be noted that developer betas are for testing purposes. Although they give users access to new features, updates are often unstable and contain bugs and glitches, some of which can affect the overall functionality of the iPhone, including low battery life, phone freezes, and unusual app behavior. Therefore, caution is advised when installing beta versions of developer updates.
