Apple has released iOS 18.2 Developer Beta 2 for iPhone almost a week after the stable release of the iOS 18.1 update. It adds new features such as the ability to create images based on text in the Notes app, the ability to share the location of a lost item tracked by Find My with trusted people, and limit the visibility of ChatGPT. Additionally, iOS 18.2 Developer Beta 2 also adds several tweaks related to camera controls exclusive to the iPhone 16 series.
iOS 18.2 Developer Beta 2 update features
Apple’s iOS 18.2 Developer Beta 1 extends the functionality of Apple Intelligence, the artificial intelligence (AI) suite first introduced in iOS 18.1. The Cupertino-based tech giant’s latest developer update brings a few improvements for them, including a new imaging tool in the Notes app. Users can now select text in the app and use it create an image in the menu that appears above and the device will create an image based on the description using Image Playground.
The Apple Intelligence settings window now shows the daily limit for free users. Only a certain number of allowed requests can be made in a 24-hour period, after which hints are directed to the base version of the app. This cycle is said to reset every day. After upgrading, iPhone users can also upgrade to the ChatGPT Plus plan directly in Settings.
On the iPhone 16 series, you can configure the camera control button to lock the automatic exposure and autofocus settings with a light press. Users can also adjust the double-click speed of the button, in addition to the existing options for adjusting the click sensitivity and light double-click speed.
iOS 18.2 Developer Beta 2 also updates the Find My app. Users can now share the location of a lost tracked item with others to find it easily and quickly. This feature works through a web browser, depriving other users of iPhones or other Apple devices.
