HTech CEO Madhav Sheth launched the Honor Magic foldable phone in India

Honor introduced the Magic V2 foldable smartphones to global markets outside of China during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024. Now, the Chinese tech brand is aiming to launch the Magic series foldable smartphones in the Indian market. HTech CEO Madhav Sheth has given clear hints about the arrival of the Honor Magic range in the country. Honor’s latest compact series includes the regular Honor Magic V2 and the Honor Magic V2 RSR. They are powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

Madhav Sheth on Tuesday (May 21) took to X’s post to announce the imminent arrival of the Honor Magic foldable phone in India. The post features Vivo X Fold 3 Pro launch posters, in which Sheth reflects on Vivo’s foldable phone, posting the question “Confidence or Naive?”. The post reads “Honor Magic series will actually exceed the expectations of Indian consumers”.

Notably, Sheth did not reveal the exact launch date of the Magic series in India or the model that will be coming to the country, but it will definitely compete against the likes of the upcoming Vivo X Fold 3 Pro in the country.

Honor Magic V2 was announced during IFA 2023 last September. The company later released a special version — the Honor Magic V2 RSR — in collaboration with Porsche Design. They were announced in select markets in February during MWC 2024.

Honor Magic V2 and Honor Magic V2 RSR run on Android 13 MagicOS 7.2. They feature a 6.43-inch OLED display and an internal 7.92-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. They are powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor combined with 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of internal storage. The folding elements are extremely nice, only 9.9 mm.

Honor has equipped the Magic V2 series with a triple rear camera unit that includes a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 20-megapixel telephoto lens. They are equipped with a 16-megapixel selfie camera. The phones are powered by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 66W wired charging.

The Honor Magic V2 RSR is priced at €2,699 (roughly Rs. 242,000) for the 16GB RAM + 1TB storage variant in Europe.
