It looks like HTC is preparing to launch a new smartphone in India. The Taiwanese manufacturer announced the new product via a social media post on Wednesday (May 15), without revealing its name or launch date. The phone in question may be a model of the HTC U24 series. It may have an upgrade over last year’s HTC U23 and HTC U23 Pro. The move will mark HTC’s return to the Indian market. The company pulled out of India a few years ago after losing ground following the expansion of Chinese suppliers.
Through a teaser on the X, HTC Vive has announced the launch of a new product in the country. The post includes the hashtag “Allforu” with the tag “coming soon”. The image shows the device with the text Al24U. Although the company hasn’t revealed the exact moniker, it appears to be an HTC U24 series smartphone.
HTC U24 and HTC U24 Pro are said to be in development. One of these phones with the model number 2QDA100 was recently spotted on the Geekbench and Bluetooth SIG websites. The listing suggests specs including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, 12GB of RAM, Android 14 and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity on the upcoming phone.
The HTC U24 and HTC U24 Pro are expected to come with upgrades compared to the HTC U23 and HTC U23 Pro respectively. The new models are likely to retain the Full HD+ 120Hz OLED displays and the IP67 certified build.
The launch of the new device will mark HTC’s return to Indian shores. The brand, which mainly operated in the flagship smartphone segment, has slowed down its mobile division globally in recent years after facing stiff competition from Chinese smartphone makers. It has a dedicated division called Vive for VR-related development.
