HP rebrands portfolio of consumer and commercial PCs, unveils new logo for PCs with artificial intelligence

HP announced on Monday that it is rebranding its portfolio of consumer and commercial PCs in an effort to streamline its product offering. As part of the rebranding initiative, HP’s line of consumer PCs will now come with a single prefix, “Omni,” followed by a label representing the product category. All notebooks will carry the “OmniBook” moniker, while the all-in-one desktops will take on the “OmniStudio” tag. On the other hand, traditional desktop computers will be called “OmniDesk”. HP also announced the evolution of its commercial PC brands into the HP EliteBook and HP ProBook.

While the company’s consumer notebooks will take on the “OmniBook” prefix, its gaming notebooks will continue to be marketed under the existing Omen brand, HP confirmed in a press release.

Alongside the consumer portfolio, HP has confirmed that it is aligning the naming conventions for its commercial PC brands, HP EliteBook and HP ProBook, to achieve a “more cohesive and consistent portfolio”.

Along with the branding changes, each HP device will now include a number in its branding to establish a product hierarchy. The lower-end products in the portfolio will start with the number ‘2’ and go up to ’10’, represented by an “X”. HP said that consumer PCs will carry odd numbers (3, 5, 7), while commercial PCs will come with even numbers (2, 4, 6, 8) in the name.

“The numbering system will help users quickly understand the hierarchy of the portfolio, with higher numbers denoting increased performance and advanced features,” HP said.

On the other hand, HP’s high-end premium offerings will have an “Ultra” designation instead of a number. In addition, the company will also use descriptive modifiers to differentiate between different form factors, such as “Fold” for dual displays and “Flip” for convertibles.

The company also unveiled a new logo for its AI computers. The HP AI Helix logo will be present on the company’s AI PCs, which will come with features such as HP AI Companion and Poly Camera Pro. The company also said that its AI computers will be equipped with protection against AI-generated threats.
