Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to release sometime in 2025, but since developer Rockstar Games hasn’t updated the title, eager fans have been poring over the information available to gather more clues. GTA 6 was first shown with a trailer in December 2023, showcasing its action and characters. Now, a change notice on the Rockstar Games website hints at some new updates about the game.
User X @GTAVI_Countdown spotted an update on the Rockstar Games website (via IGN) that added GTA 6 to its database. The database entry page for the upcoming game contains placeholders for the four screenshots, cover art, and release date. This could hint at an upcoming GTA 6 official announcement or update.
Rockstar shut down the page shortly after the database was spotted, further suggesting that an update may be on the way. According to user X, while the GTA 6 page has been removed, the placeholder code remains in the database, which was made public earlier this week. The code links to four screenshots and mentions digital purchases.

Rockstar hasn’t revealed any further details about its upcoming title, but user X believes that the studio accidentally leaked the GTA 6 database page ahead of schedule, and it may be gearing up for an announcement ahead of Take-Two’s quarterly earnings report next week.
Take-Two Interactive, which owns Rockstar Games, will report results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year 2024 on May 16. While the earnings report won’t provide any direct updates on GTA 6, it may hint at a shorter release window.
So far, Rockstar Games has only released one trailer for GTA 6, detailing the Miami-inspired plot and one of the two main characters, Lucia. The studio is likely to reveal more about the game and perhaps provide more details about the male lead in a second trailer, possibly this year. Going by the trailers of Rockstar’s previous games, a gameplay feature trailer is likely to arrive before the release of GTA 6 as well.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is confirmed to launch on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X in 2025.
