Google is testing a new incognito mode shortcut option in its search app, allowing users to quickly access the feature, according to a report. The feature was spotted in the beta version of Google’s Android smartphone app, along with another addition that makes the footer labels disappear. This development comes just a week after it was announced that the search engine may stop offering continuously scrolling search results on mobile and desktop platforms.
Google’s new incognito mode shortcut
Android Authority spotted a new shortcut that opens the Incognito tab on the Google Android app, on version 15.26.34.29.arm64. The latest beta version is available for download to testers who have opted in to receive beta updates through the Google Play Developer Program.

This can allow users to quickly switch to anonymous mode, instead of the current solution — by tapping the profile picture option in the top right corner of the screen and then selecting the anonymous tab under the account.
The update also reportedly brings an improved look to the home tab in the Google app. Marks that appeared earlier, such as Home, is looking for and Saved they are now hidden, while only the icons are visible, providing a simplified interface look.
While these options are said to be available with the latest beta update of the Google app, Gadgets 360 staff members were unable to access them, suggesting that this is a server-side change.
Search circle in the Google app to get the update
Google’s app is also reportedly getting support for Circle to Search – a visual search feature powered by artificial intelligence (AI). It was spotted in the beta version of the Google app and can allow users to scan QR codes or barcodes visible on the screen.
Meanwhile, a chip that displays the URL of the destination website may also be visible next to the code, according to the report. This option is said to be accessible by long pressing the Home button. and will likely be introduced to users on a stable channel later.
