The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is likely to be released with an upgraded display compared to the Pixel Fold, Google’s first-ever foldable smartphone, which was unveiled in May 2023. Earlier this year, it was reported that the alleged Pixel Fold 2 smartphone might be called Pixel. 9 Pro Fold and sports much larger displays. A new report suggests that the rumored foldable device could come with an improved split-screen mode. The resolution is also expected to be upgraded compared to the existing model.
Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold Display Details (Expected)
The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is expected to support an updated split-screen mode that will allow users to position apps to the left and right of the internal display when the phone is in portrait mode, according to a report by Android Authority. This is reportedly due to changes made to QPR2’s Android 14 code seen by the publication. Currently, apps can only be stacked vertically on top of each other.
The report also notes that the code does not directly mention that it is for the rumored Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold. However, since the upcoming successor to the Pixel Fold is believed to be the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, there is a chance that the code change will be reflected in the alleged phone.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is expected to have an internal display resolution of 2076 x 2152 pixels, the report added. If true, it’s another improvement over the 1840 x 2208 pixel resolution of the Google Pixel Fold’s internal display.
Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold Features (Expected)
It was previously reported that the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is likely to have an 8.02-inch main display and a 6.29-inch cover screen. This is much larger than the existing 7.6-inch internal display and 5.8-inch external screen of the Pixel Fold.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold could be powered by the Tensor G4 SoC, which was previously reported to support emergency satellite connectivity. The current Pixel Fold comes with the Tensor G2 chipset.
