Google is reportedly developing a new anti-overheat remedy for Pixel smartphones

According to a report, Google is developing a new tool to solve the overheating problem of its Pixel smartphones. A feature called “Adaptive Thermal” was reportedly spotted during the teardown of the Device Health Services APK on the smartphone. Although modern smartphones have built-in thermal protection, this new feature is said to open a new notification pop-up and start a temperature measurement service whenever it detects a Pixel smartphone heating up.

A report by Android Authority, in collaboration with whistleblower Mishaal Rahman, revealed information about this new feature that Google is allegedly developing. A few lines related to this feature were spotted while unpacking the Pixel’s Device Health Services v1.27 APK.

The smartphone is said to trigger a “pre-emergency” alert when the battery temperature reaches 49 degrees Celsius when powered on. Then a notification may appear that the phone needs to cool down. It is also recommended that users be notified that they may be experiencing “lower performance” on their Pixel.

To fix this, they should “avoid direct sunlight or close any battery-draining apps,” according to the report. New Review the stages of care An option to let users know the steps taken by the Pixel operating system to keep it secure is also said to be coming. The option also reportedly offers tips on how to cool the device, such as keeping it outdoors with better airflow, closing battery-draining apps, and avoiding use in direct sunlight.

At the moment, Pixel devices, like other smartphones, have several measures to combat overheating. When the smartphone heats up, the processor slows down, sacrificing performance to protect the phone. In addition, the device can also automatically turn off several functions such as LED flash, camera, 5G connectivity and even slow down charging. These steps are necessary to ensure that the device is not damaged in such situations.

It is also reported that the Adaptive Thermal feature automatically measures the temperature of the Pixel smartphone every five minutes. If the temperature reaches above 52 degrees Celsius, the device reportedly goes into an “emergency” state. When it crosses a threshold of 55 degrees Celsius, it can trigger a 30-second warning, after which the phone can shut down.
