Google is rolling out new features announced for Google TV devices last week. Among them, the feature that stands out is the addition of custom art artificial intelligence (AI) screensavers. This feature allows users to turn their idle screen into a unique work of art. Additionally, users can also use their images on Google Photos to make them a screen saver. Separately, the Mountain View-based tech giant is also adding a new home panel that will act as the hub of a smart home.
Google TV gets AI screensavers
A new Google TV support page has appeared, detailing the new features. Screensavers appear when the smart TV has been idle for a while and starts showing wallpapers instead of the home screen. These are usually stock images and are generic in nature. However, the new AI feature offers users a way to flaunt unique art in this space.
There are three ways a user can add a custom AI art screensaver. The first is to enter a query that describes the art that users want to see. Another way is to use preset templates and select them to generate AI. The third method involves using the “Inspire Me” option. This option will allow the AI to generate a random image that users can save as a screen saver.
If AI images are not something the user prefers, they can also add their favorite images from Google Photos. However, to use this feature, the user must be signed in to their Google account. Namely, users cannot select individual images and will have to select one or more albums to display as a screen saver.
To set up an AI art screensaver on your Google TV device, you can follow these steps:
- Go to the Google TV home screen and select settings.
- Go to rustling and select Ambient mode of operation.
- Select from the list of screensavers Custom AI Art. Go to Create a new…
- Choose between Describe your idea, Inspire meand Suggested templates.
- Once you’ve created a piece of custom AI, you can use the up and down buttons to scroll through its variations.
- Save the desired images to the image library.
- You can add multiple queries to generate multiple images. Once done, select Set all as screensaver.
