New features in the Google Chrome browser

In a blog post, Google unveiled five new features for Android and iOS devices. Brings more Chrome actions for local searches. Following search queries related to local businesses, such as searching for a restaurant, users will now be presented with three new options: Call, Directions, and Reviews. Google says the feature is already live on Android and will roll out to iOS later this year.

The address bar on tablets has also been redesigned in line with Google’s Material You design language. When searching, the web page will still be visible to the user in the new drop-down menu. Shortcut suggestions are also said to be improved keeping in mind the user’s typing habits. Google says it will now help them get to a website based on what they normally search to get there.

Google has also brought Trending Searches to iOS – a feature already available on Android devices since 2023. Users can now simply tap on an empty address bar to see a list of popular searches. Selecting a trending search will display other searches related to that topic.

It also introduces live sports cards to the Discover feed. With this feature, users can get automatic updates and find out how their favorite sports teams are doing if they have requested it in the past. Google says this feature can also be customized by navigating to the three-dot menu.
