A sequel to Lords of the Fallen is currently in development, scheduled for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X in 2026. The game, known as “Project III,” doesn’t have an official title yet, but publisher CI Games has shared new details about the sequel. Lords of the Fallen 2 is in full production and will be released next year. The action-RPG still plans to launch in 2026.
Sequel to Lords of the Fallen
In a financial report outlining its strategy and roadmap for 2025-2028, CI Games sheds more light on the Lords of the Fallen sequel, as well as a slate of games planned for the next three years. According to the publisher, Project III, “the next big installment in the LOTF franchise,” is fully developed by Hexworks. Just like Lords of the Fallen (2023), the sequel is built on Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5.
CI Games believes that Lords of the Fallen 2 will have “increased appeal and accessibility to both existing and wider audiences”. In the report, the publisher also noted that Soulslike will feature gameplay improvements such as expanded game mode options, a more commercial art style and narrative, and increased production values.
Additionally, Lords of the Fallen 2 will feature “full co-op co-op alongside the main single-player campaign.”
The game will be announced in 2025, “with a marketing campaign that will drive brand awareness following significant marketing spend on Lords 23 and a growing install base,” the publisher confirmed. Lords of the Fallen 2 will be released sometime in 2026.
As confirmed in June, the game will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store for PC as part of a deal with Epic Games that gives the Fortnite maker “exclusive worldwide distribution rights” to the PC sequel. In its latest financial report, CI Games said it received a “large investment” from Epic for PC exclusivity.
Other projects are under development
In addition to the Lords of the Fallen sequel, the publisher is also working on two other games that are currently in pre-production and are slated to launch by 2028. The first of these is “Project SGW Evolved”, the next part of the Sniper: Ghost Warrior franchise, also built on the Unreal Engine 5 engine. The game will combine the first-person shooter and the survival genre, and its launch is scheduled for 2027.
The second is “Project H,” a “major fantasy role-playing IP game developed by Underdog Studios. The game will be developed on Unreal Engine 5 and will use the systems and architecture of Lords of the Fallen and Project III. Project H plans to release in 2028.
Lords of the Fallen 2023 Reboot was released in October 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
