ColorOS 15 — the new operating system (OS) for Oppo and OnePlus smartphones — was unveiled on Thursday. Based on the latest version of Android 15, the update introduces improved visuals with texture interpretation, detailed animations and new themes. It also makes it easy to transfer files between Oppo models and iPhones thanks to the O+ connection app. ColorOS 15 supports artificial intelligence (AI) features in its Xiaobu assistant, and users can now have natural language conversations and take advantage of its on-screen awareness capabilities.
Features of ColorOS 15
According to Oppo, ColorOS 15 offers an updated user interface (UI) with new dynamic effects, natural light and shadow elements and iconography. It uses Aurora and Tidal Engines to run app animations in parallel, which improves multitasking. Thanks to the optimization, the company claims that its latest update resulted in an 18 percent improvement in app responsiveness and a 26 percent increase in app installs.
Another notable addition is the O+ connection app, which makes it easy to transfer files between Oppo devices and iPhone models. Users can share photos, videos and documents in seconds.
ColorOS 15 also has AI features. This includes new features for the Xiaobu assistant, which can now understand natural language and support conversations. In addition, it has information about the content on the screen, can answer questions and provide recommendations such as travel routes. Notes can format and summarize text, and the document scanner also gets summarization and translation features. Oppo has also enabled an AI feature in the voice recorder that can transcribe and summarize recordings.
The Photos app also has AI features. Oppo says that users can now take advantage of features such as one-touch person removal and mirroring, de-blurring for portraits, and image zooming. In addition, Live Photos now supports Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS).
Other ColorOS 15 features include new smart floating window gestures, reversible photo album editing, separate notification and control centers, and automatic OTP removal.
ColorOS 15 release schedule, compatible models
Oppo says that ColorOS 15 will be available out of the box on the upcoming Find X8 and OnePlus 13 models in China. It will be distributed in China from November. Below is the full release schedule and list of models compatible with the update:
