The Asus ROG Phone 9 series is likely to be the successor to the Asus ROG Phone 8 lineup unveiled at CES 2024. The current lineup includes the base Asus ROG Phone 8 and the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro. While Asus hasn’t made any announcements regarding the upcoming lineup, a recent report suggested a possible timeline for the phone’s launch. The report also hints at key specifications of the expected ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro.
Launch of Asus ROG Phone 9 series (expected)
According to a report by Android Headlines, the Asus ROG Phone 9 series, which is expected to include the ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro, could be launched in the first quarter of 2025, which is between January and March next year. This comes in tandem with the company’s launch cycle, as the Asus ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro were launched in January this year.
Asus ROG Phone 9 Features (Expected)
According to the report, the Asus ROG Phone 9 series will include a phone with model number ASUSAI2501C. It’s unclear if the model number is related to the base or Pro variant. The Asus ROG Phone 9 series smartphones are likely to be powered by Qualcomm’s yet-to-be-released Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor.
The phones will likely have their own cooling system and will most likely retain the launch buttons designed for mobile gamers. The next generation Asus ROG Phone will also feature RGB LED lighting at the back.
Specifications of the Asus ROG Phone 8 series
Notably, the Asus ROG Phone 8 series phones come with 6.78-inch Full HD+ AMOLED LTPO 165Hz displays with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. They are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and backed by batteries at 5500 mAh each with support for Qi 1.3 wireless charging and 65 W wired charging. The phones also have a 50-megapixel triple rear camera and a 12-megapixel selfie camera.
