Assassin’s Creed Shadows Collector’s Edition Gets $50 Price After Season Pass And Early Access Canceled

Ubisoft delayed the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows last month, announcing that the action-adventure will be released in February 2025 instead of the planned November 15th release. In addition to the delay, the company announced that it is canceling the Season Pass and early access to the game. Ubisoft is now lowering the price of the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Collector’s Edition to reflect these changes.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Collector’s Edition price cut

Assassin’s Creed Shadows was announced in May and confirmed to be available in Standard, Gold, Ultimate, and Collector’s Editions. The Collector’s Edition, which includes physical items such as a steel book, a world map, Naoe and Yasuke figurines, a life-size Tsuba Naoe katana, a Wall Creed scroll, an 84-page collectible artbook, and two sumi-e lithographs, was priced at $279.99.

In a Discord Q&A (via IGN ), Ubisoft confirmed that the price of the Collector’s Edition will be reduced by $50 and will now cost $229.99. Following the cancellation of Early Access and the Season Pass that were part of the Collector’s Edition bundle, the new price reflects the reduced cost of the edition.

The content of the collector’s edition, however, will remain the same as originally advertised, but some design elements of the physical items may change, according to Ubisoft.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Delay

The release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows was delayed last month despite being in a “feature development” state. Ubisoft said the delay will allow developers to further improve the next Assassin’s Creed game. “This will allow the franchise’s biggest new addition to fully realize its ambitions, particularly fulfilling the promise of our two-protagonist adventure, in which Naoe and Yasuke bring two very different play styles,” Ubisoft said.

In addition to the delay, the French company also confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be available on Steam on its launch day. All pre-orders for the game have been refunded, and Ubisoft has announced that all future pre-orders will receive the first expansion for free.

The delay was announced after the failed launch of Star Wars Outlaws. The company said the game’s commercial performance was “softer than expected”. Based on the sales of Outlaws and the decision to postpone Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft also revised its financial forecast for the 2024-25 financial year.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is scheduled to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X on February 14, 2025.
