The Android 15 beta 3 update was released on Tuesday and it introduced several new features for Android smartphones. According to the report, one of the new features in the update is the “Device Diagnostics” option in the settings, which allows users to run tests on their phones for any potential problems with its internal components. The option is even said to offer device-by-device evaluation capabilities, making it easier for owners to diagnose their smartphones without visiting a repair center.

Android Authority, which works with tipster Mishaal Rahman, reported the news Diagnostics of the device in the latest Android beta update. According to the report, it is located below Repair mode option in the device settings. It is said to offer two options: Component health and Assessment mode.
using Component health users can run several diagnostic tests, including a display test and a touch test. This reportedly allows them to swipe across the display and show where touch input was registered. It also allows them to check battery health with information such as battery condition, date of manufacture, date of first use and number of cycles, according to the report. Users can also check the status of the storage chip, and the page shows the remaining life of the chip.
On the other hand, Assessment mode allegedly allows users to use another smartphone to conduct a thorough evaluation of it. They can generate a QR code on the device that needs to be evaluated and scanned by a trusted device, the report said. It then runs a series of tests on the smartphone and generates a report detailing any potential issues.
According to the report, some of the tests are being performed Assessment mode may require internet access on the device. The “Device Diagnostics” menu was reportedly discovered after “working” the Android build on the Google Pixel smartphone. Currently, the Android 15 beta 3 update is reported to be available only for the Pixel 6 and later models.
