The Lenovo Legion Go was launched last September with AMD Ryzen Z1 series processors and Windows 11. The portable gaming PC with detachable controllers like the Nintendo Switch follows a wave of portable gaming devices like the Steam Deck and Asus ROG. Ally. Now, Lenovo is reportedly preparing to launch a “lite” version of the Legion Go. This development comes after Asus announced earlier this month that it would soon be releasing an updated ROG Ally laptop.
A Windows Central report, citing sources familiar with Lenovo’s plans, claims that the company is preparing the Lenovo Legion Go “Lite.” The “lite” version of the PDA will reportedly run on the same AMD Ryzen Z1 processor series, but will likely have some “improvements” over its predecessor.
Details about the changes and updates to the Lenovo Legion Go Lite are not yet available, but the name “Lite” suggests some hardware compromises to lower the price of the portable gaming device. A report from Windows Central suggests that the Lenovo Legion Go Lite could have a smaller screen and ditch the detachable controllers, just like the Nintendo Switch Lite. Accordingly, the Lenovo Legion Go Lite may also have a lower price tag.
There are no official details about the “lighter” version of the Lenovo Legion Go, and the company has not yet revealed a launch schedule for the device.
Lenovo is not the only manufacturer preparing an updated version of its portable gaming PC. Asus has announced that it will release the Asus ROG Ally X, an updated version of its portable device, on June 2. It is noted that the future ROG Ally X will receive a much larger battery, more RAM and a new black color.
A report last week claimed that the Asus ROG Ally X will have a larger 80Wh battery and will come with 24GB of LPDDR5 memory compared to its predecessor’s 16GB of RAM.
The Lenovo Legion Go was launched at IFA, Berlin last September at a price of €799 (roughly Rs. 70,000). It has an 8.8-inch QHD+ display with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz. The PDA works on the basis of AMD Ryzen Z1 series processors in combination with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD.
