Last month, Xiaomi announced the latest operating system (OS) for its devices called HyperOS 2.0. The update introduces a wide range of new features, including extensive home screen and lock screen customization options, visual changes, performance improvements, and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. A company official has now unveiled another new feature that improves the compatibility of Xiaomi smartphones with Apple devices such as the iPhone, allowing users to easily share files between ecosystems.
HyperConnect function on Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, demonstrated HyperOS 2.0 interconnection services with the HyperConnect function. In a short video, the official representative transferred files from Xiaomi 15 Pro to iPhone, iPad and Mac with a one-click solution. After selecting a file, nearby Apple devices automatically appear in the sharing menu, and file transfers take seconds.
The CEO of Xiaomi revealed that users can not only share files, photos and other content with Apple devices, but also access their own file formats, such as Apple Keynote on the Xiaomi 15 series, without the need to convert them beforehand. Additionally, the Xiaomi 15 Pro’s screen has also been mirrored on a MacBook to showcase its capabilities. This requires both devices to be on the same Wi-Fi network. However, it is unclear whether both of these features require initial setup.
Notably, the availability of Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0 update is currently limited to China, and there is no official word on its global debut.
Lei Jun emphasized the company’s goal to become the ecosystem best compatible with Apple devices and highlighted the future of “connected and shared” technologies. The inspiration for the feature came from the Xiaomi SU7 electric vehicle (EV), a project the Chinese smartphone maker started after Apple abandoned its smart car project earlier this year. He aimed to develop an electric car that was best compatible with Apple products, the CEO added.
