Last month, Samsung announced its latest operating system (OS) based on Android 15 called One UI 7. The latest suggestions indicate that the update will be available in beta later this month. The tipster now suggests that the One UI 7 update may include a new option that will allow users to manually disable thermal management, a feature built into the OS to prevent damage to the smartphone’s internal components and extend its lifespan.
Disabling thermal regulation on One UI 7
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), tipster @chunvn8888 shared the discovery of a feature hidden in the developer options in One UI 7 called Turn off the thermoregulation. As the name suggests, it’s supposed to give users manual control over thermal regulation, a safety feature in smartphones that automatically slows down the processor and other internal components to prevent damage from overheating.
An upcoming One UI 7 feature may allow users to bypass this precaution, which, while increasing the potential risk to the smartphone’s internal components, could also improve gaming performance with higher frames per second (fps) and reduced latency.
It is noteworthy that a similar feature was discovered in the initial versions of One UI 6, which required access to the Samsung Device Health Manager Service through a third-party application. However, it has reportedly been removed in later versions of the OS.
One UI 7 Release Date, Features
Samsung hasn’t revealed the roadmap for the One UI 7 release. However, the South Korean tech conglomerate has confirmed that the beta version of its latest OS will be available to all users, not just registered developers. Users will be notified via the Samsung Members app when the rollout begins.
According to Samsung, the One UI 7 update based on Android 15 includes three main goals: focused simplicity, branded experience and emotional attachment. The OS is said to have been designed to understand user intent and minimize complexity. It will still retain some of Samsung’s signature Android skin design elements that have been familiar to Galaxy users for years.
