The Xiaomi 15 series with the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC was launched last month, but the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to launch early next year as the third model in the series. Although the potential launch is still months away, details about the phone’s quad camera setup have surfaced online. A new leak suggests that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will have a 50-megapixel main sensor with a longer focal length. This can improve the Ultra’s low-light performance.
The characteristics of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra camera have appeared
According to a Weibo post by well-known tipster Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese), the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will feature a 50-megapixel primary sensor with a 23mm focal length and f/1.6 aperture. The focal length of the main sensor is said to be longer than that of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, at 8.7mm. This is likely to improve the phone’s low-light performance. It says the phone will have a “new customized hardware module”, which could be a reference to a specially designed main sensor.
Like its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra has a 200-megapixel periscopic sensor. This telephoto lens is said to have 4.3x optical zoom, a focal length of 100mm and an aperture of f/2.6. The advisor states that the periscope sensor size has been trimmed to a 25.xmm focal length. It is said to offer two zoom options – 4.3x with a 1/1.5-inch image size and 4.1x with a 1/1.4-inch sensor.
Apart from the main sensor and telephoto sensor, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra camera is expected to include a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN5 sensor and a 50MP periscope with 2x zoom. On the front, it may include a 32-megapixel selfie camera.
According to previous leaks, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will feature a 6.7-inch 2K LTPO micro-square display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Like other Xiaomi 15 series siblings, it can be powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. It is expected to run on HyperOS 2.0 based on Android 15. It may have a 6000mAh battery with support for wired and 80W wireless charging. It boasts a circular camera module.
