Apple has announced a service program for a rear camera issue affecting select iPhone 14 Plus units manufactured within 12 months. The Cupertino-based company announced that infected devices will be eligible for service at Apple Authorized Service Providers at no additional cost, and customers can check if their phones are affected by providing the company with their serial number. In the meantime, users who have already paid for iPhone 14 Plus rear camera repairs can contact Apple for a refund.
Apple offers an iPhone 14 Plus service program to fix rear camera issues
A support page created by the company states that it has identified a “very small percentage” of iPhone 14 Plus devices suffering from an issue where the rear camera does not show a preview. According to Apple, iPhone 14 Plus devices manufactured between April 10, 2023 and April 28, 2024 may be affected.
iPhone 14 Plus owners can enter their serial number on the company’s support page to check if their smartphone is affected and eligible for free service. Apple says the service program will cover the affected device for three years after it was first purchased.
How to check your eligibility for Apple’s iPhone 14 Plus service program

Apple’s support document states that some customers who have iPhone 14 Plus devices with damage that prevents service to the rear camera, such as a broken back glass panel, will need to have these issues resolved first. Unlike the free service program, Apple says it will charge customers for these additional repairs.
Customers who have already paid for iPhone 14 Plus rear camera service can also contact Apple for a refund, according to the company’s website. Gadgets 360 was able to verify that an iPhone 14 Plus purchased in December 2023 is not in the serial number range.
