One UI 7 — Samsung’s upcoming Android 15-based software update for eligible smartphone and tablet models — was briefly teased by the company at its annual developer conference, and details of the next major version of One UI have now surfaced online. While the update isn’t expected until early 2025, it will reportedly bring several improvements to the interface, introducing new parental controls and AI-powered features. Samsung is also expected to update the existing health-related feature with the One UI 7 update.
One UI 7 Features (Expected)
Android Headlines has leaked several new features coming to One UI 7, which is based on Android 15. The upcoming software update for the corresponding Samsung smartphones and tablets will have a redesigned set of icons, which is expected to make it easier for users to identify the company’s built-in applications such as dialer, messages, gallery, calculator and clock apps.
The company is also expected to improve the handling of notifications that appear on the lock screen, and a new “smart notification management” will provide access to notifications at a glance, according to the report.
Samsung is also expected to introduce a new feature for the parental control feature that will allow or block certain apps or websites on a child’s smartphone. Meanwhile, the company will reportedly add support for a built-in location tracking feature similar to Find My on iOS.
Energy Score, another feature featured in the latest Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra models, will reportedly be updated, but the publication did not specify which features will be added or whether support will be extended to older models.
Artificial intelligence features in One UI 7
In addition to all the new UI changes and system-level features that One UI 7 brings, users will also get access to new AI features when the update hits devices next year. Homework Help is the first feature of One UI 7. The feature, which can solve math and physics problems, was demonstrated by Google in May, and it will finally be extended to Samsung Galaxy phones.
One UI 7 will also allow users to “restyle” their portraits with artificial intelligence, while providing new “artistic effects created by artificial intelligence.” The Sketch to Image feature, introduced in the company’s latest flagship models with the One UI 6.1.1 update, will also appear on more devices with a future update, adding support for the new features. According to the publication, Samsung’s AI Zoom feature will use the Pro Visual Engine to produce sharper images with high magnification (up to 100x) on compatible smartphones.
