The OnePlus Open is OnePlus’ first foldable smartphone, which was released last year with a high-resolution display and Hasselblad-branded triple cameras on the back ( read our review ). A successor to the folding device is said to be in the works. Now we have some new details about the upcoming foldable device, courtesy of a tipster. The OnePlus Open 2 is said to be powered by an unannounced Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC and could be a rebranded Oppo Find N5.
OnePlus Open 2 launch timeline leaked online
A well-known whistleblower from Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese) on Weibo has claimed that the OnePlus Open 2 will be launched in the first quarter of 2025. It is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. Qualcomm is expected to unveil the chipset in October this year.
The successor to the OnePlus Open is rumored to feature an updated hinge to reduce weight, an “ultra-flat” internal screen, a high-resolution lid screen, and a slim design. It may retain the OnePlus Open’s periscope camera and is likely to have a slim design. It is expected to debut as the rebranded Oppo Find N5. The predecessor was a redesigned Find N3.
The OnePlus Open was launched in India in October 2023 at a price of Rs. 139999 for a single configuration of 16GB RAM + 512GB storage. It has a 7.82-inch (2268×2440 pixels) 2K Flexi-fluid LTPO 3.0 AMOLED internal display and a 6.31-inch (1116×2484 pixels) 2K LTPO 3.0 Super Fluid AMOLED screen. It is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor coupled with 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM.
In terms of optics, the OnePlus Open has a Hasselblad-branded triple primary camera led by a 48-megapixel primary camera. It has a 20MP primary selfie camera and a 32MP secondary front camera. The foldable battery packs a 4,800mAh battery that supports 67W SuperVOOC charging.
