Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is due out on October 25th, but Activision has reportedly already had its eye on the next Call of Duty. A new leak claims that Call of Duty 2025 will be a sequel to Black Ops 2 set in the 2030s. If true, this would be the first time Activision has released Black Ops games back-to-back. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was released in 2012 and switched between two timelines, the 1980s and 2025.

Call of Duty 2025 details leaked

Call of Duty 2025 is currently in development, according to details from a leaked focus group meeting. However, the sources do not specify the developer of the name; The development of Black Ops entries is usually handled by Treyarch. The Activision-owned studio is co-developing the upcoming Black Ops 6 with Raven Software.

The leaks were published by Fumo Leaks on Friday as part of a thread on X, revealing details about the game’s campaign, features, multiplayer, and zombies. Call of Duty 2025 is said to be a direct sequel to Black Ops 2 and will take place in 2035 after the events of the 2012 game.

According to details of an anticipated focus group meeting for next year’s Call of Duty, the main character of the campaign will be David Mason from Black Ops 2. “The game is more of an espionage theme, with information warfare as a key point.” This is what Fumo Leaks says in one of the posts with a link to the information of the alleged focus group.

According to a screenshot from the focus group meeting, body shields will return to multiplayer mode. Players will also reportedly be able to stick grenades to bodies and throw them at enemies.

The Omnimovement feature that appeared in Black Ops 6 will also be present in Call of Duty 2025. It is reported that players will also be able to perform wall jumps and new animations will make the movement smoother.

Familiar modes and maps will return to multiplayer modes in the next Call of Duty. The fan-favorite Zombies mode will reportedly feature one of the largest maps in the series, with a transport system in place to help with traversal. According to the leak, Zombies will also get an eight-player mode.

While the latest leaks confirm previous reports about Call of Duty 2025, it should be noted that Activision has yet to confirm any details about the next Call of Duty. The publisher plans to launch Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on October 25 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. Black Ops 6 is a direct sequel to 2020’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, set in 1991.
