Samsung has confirmed the launch of its upcoming Galaxy device in its home country of South Korea next week. While details remain unknown, many are speculating that the upcoming unveiling will be the alleged Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition, which has been rumored to be in development for some time. Notably, this development builds on recent leaks that suggest the alleged phone could feature a slimmer design and larger displays compared to the standard model.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition Launch date

In a press release, Samsung South Korea announced that it will be unveiling a new Galaxy device on October 21. It is expected to be the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition. A teaser video has also been released, but it doesn’t show the device. The company hasn’t revealed any details about the alleged device, but recent reports hint at a redesigned camera module that could be placed in a rectangular shape instead of the pill-shaped unit on the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Also, the foldable smartphone could be 10.6mm thick when folded, compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s 12.1mm thickness, a difference of just 1.5mm. It is said to have S Pen support and a titanium frame.

In terms of optics, the alleged Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition may have a 200-megapixel primary camera. It will also reportedly feature slightly larger displays, with a claimed 8-inch internal display and 6.5-inch external display. For reference, the standard model is equipped with a 6.3-inch internal and 7.60-inch external screen.

However, unlike the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is available globally, the special edition launched by the South Korean tech conglomerate is expected to be limited. According to reports, it will only launch in two markets: China and South Korea. It is expected that the first debut of the foldable smartphone will take place on September 25 in South Korea – at the company’s base. It is said that it will be launched in China soon after the launch.

Production is likely to remain limited as well, with only 4 to 5 lakh units of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition expected to be released.
