The Redmi A4 5G was launched in India on Wednesday as the first entry-level smartphone with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip. The smartphone was launched at the ongoing annual event India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024 in New Delhi and will be available for less than Rs. 10,000 is a very competitive price segment. It is expected to be one of the most affordable 5G smartphones in India to be launched in the country in the future.

Redmi A4 5G price in India will be set below Rs. 10,000, according to subsidiary Xiaomi. The company said the phone will be launched in India “soon”, but did not reveal an official date for its debut. It was launched in black and white colors at Redmi’s launch event at IMC 2024.
The smartphone maker has yet to reveal the specifications of the Redmi A4 5G, but we do know that it is the first phone to be powered by the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip. This octa-core processor is built on Qualcomm’s 4nm process and offers a maximum clock speed of 2GHz along with RAM LPDDR4x. The Snapdragon 5G Modem-RF system offers 5G network connectivity with support for download speeds of up to 1 Gbps.
The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset also supports Full HD+ displays with a 90Hz refresh rate. According to Qualcomm’s documentation, it has dual 12-bit ISP with support for two 13-megapixel cameras or one 25-megapixel camera along with electronic image stabilization. The Redmi A4 5G, showcased by the company at IMC 2024, appears to have a dual primary camera housed in a circular camera island.
Other features available on the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip include support for dual-frequency GPS (L1+L5) and NavIC satellite systems. It also supports dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC connectivity. Smartphones equipped with this processor can also support transfer speeds up to USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps) along with UFS 3.1 storage support.
