Samsung announced that it will launch an operating system (OS) based on One UI for its smart TVs at the Samsung Developer Conference 2024 held in San Jose earlier this month. The rollout of the OS update has now begun, according to the report. It brings a new user interface (UI), adds Game Bar features, and brings other improvements such as multiple controls, video and audio calling support, and expanded Internet of Things (IoT) compatibility.
One UI 7 for Samsung TVs
At its developer conference, Samsung revealed that One UI will be released for its smart TVs next year. However, SamMobile reports that this change is already happening with the release of updates for devices including the S90C OLED TV. According to the changelog, one of the most significant additions is new For you a tab on the home screen that gives users personalized recommendations. This will include recently viewed content and related content. There are also new Live and Apps tabs for greater convenience.
AND Watch later option has been added to the content details screen, allowing users to later narrow down the content they want to stream. The home screen also gets a new lifestyle service center.
The South Korean tech conglomerate has also introduced support for more controls. This supposedly means that users can control multiple Samsung devices signed in with the same Samsung account using the same input devices like keyboard and mouse. With Samsung Daily+, they can also pair their Galaxy Watch with their TV to access real-time exercise data. On mobile devices, IoT cameras can be connected and controlled via the SmartThings app. The single user interface for smart TVs is also said to bring capabilities for video calling, messaging and mobile screen sharing. It also allows connection to the Music Frame via the upgraded Q-Symphony setup.
However, Samsung also stressed that users should check app providers for compatibility with the update as certain apps may not be compatible with Samsung Tizen OS 8.0.
