On Monday, Apple released the iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 7 update for the iPhone. The latest update does not include any notable additions and the rest of its features are carried over from previous updates. This includes Apple Intelligence, the company’s suite of artificial intelligence (AI) features such as writing tools, image de-objectification, and web page summarization. It also fixes bugs found in previous updates, especially in Apple’s new iPhone 16 series.

According to Apple’s release notes, the iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 7 update has build number 22B5075a. This fix is ​​specifically for the iPhone 16 series. Apple says it has fixed a bug that caused system memory to crash when installing an app with the Capture Extension when another Camera Control app is already selected.

In addition, it also fixes a screen lock issue that caused Spotlight to stop working when pulled out. With iOS 18, Apple introduced Enhanced Communication Services (RCS) for the iPhone. However, a bug was discovered in the update that caused attachments to fail to be sent via RCS after SIM cards were swapped. The Cupertino-based tech giant’s latest update also addresses this issue.

There are also settings related to Siri, Spotlight, Swift 6, StoreKit, and the Files app. Notably, the update is only available to developers registered through the Apple Developer Program. The iPhone maker has also rolled out similar updates for its other devices, including the iPad and Mac.

iOS 18.1 release date, compatibility

iOS 18.1 will be released for iPhone later this month. According to the report, Apple may release the latest OS update with Apple Intelligence features on October 26. It will be compatible with all iPhone models that received the iOS 18 update last month, including the latest iPhone 16 series.

However, Apple Intelligence features will be limited to iPhone 15 Pro models and all iPhone 16 series models.
