Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 mobile platform processor in India at the Snapdragon for India event in July as a budget 5G chipset. Xiaomi is now likely to be the first original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to launch a phone with this new chipset. The alleged handset is being touted as an entry-level offering and is expected to be unveiled in India next week at the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024.

A Xiaomi smartphone based on the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 processor under the hood can be presented at IMC 2024 on October 16. While the exact details remain unknown, the report suggests that the device could sport a 6.7-inch HD+ LCD display with an upgrade. frequency 90 Hz. It could be a joint announcement, but no other details are known at this time.
In terms of optics, it may sport a 50-megapixel primary camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing selfie camera. The phone is expected to pack a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging support. It can run on Xiaomi’s MIUI based on Android 14.
Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 specs
With the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset, Qualcomm says it will target entry-level 5G smartphones in India for $99 (roughly Rs. 8,200). It sits below the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 in Qualcomm’s mobile processor lineup for the country.
It is built on a 64-bit architecture with a Qualcomm Kryo processor with eight cores: two for performance and six for efficiency. The performance cores have a peak clock speed of 2.0 GHz, while the six efficiency cores have a maximum frequency of 1.8 GHz. it also gets Adreno GPU on board which offers OpenGL ES 3.2, Vulkan 1.1 and OpenCL 2.0 API support. The processor is manufactured using a 4-nanometer technological process.
According to Qualcomm, devices based on this chipset support LPDDR4x RAM with a clock frequency of up to 2133 MHz and built-in UFS 3.1 memory. The 12-bit Spectra Image Signal Processor (ISP) chipset can support up to 84-megapixel single-camera sensors. It also features Full HD+ displays with a refresh rate of up to 90Hz.
