The Lenovo Legion Go portable gaming console was unveiled worldwide at IFA (Internationale FunkAusstellung Berlin) in September. The Windows-based device, powered by AMD’s new Ryzen Z1 processor series, will go on sale in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) markets this month. While there hasn’t been any official announcement from Lenovo about the launch date for the Indian market, the Lenovo Legion India Instagram page seems to have hinted at a regional release window for the PDA. Lenovo Legion Go PDA may launch in India next year.
According to gaming industry insider Rishi Alwani, Lenovo Legion India’s Instagram manager responded to a query about the availability of the portable gaming device in India. Responding to a query by X (formerly Twitter) user Shantosh Somasunthar (@SSomasunthar) about the Lenovo Legion Go, the account said the device is slated to launch in India in March 2024. Alvani posted a screenshot of the interaction on the X, giving a bit of a hint. about the possible launch window of the console in the country. However, it’s worth noting that the Lenovo Legion page in India lists the device as the “Lenovo Legion Go Laptop”, which could be a mistake or a misunderstanding.
As mentioned earlier, Lenovo has not announced a launch window or price for the Legion Go PDA in India. The device is priced at €799 (roughly Rs. 70,000) in the EMEA markets and will be available in Shadow Black color.
However, gaming fans in India can hope. Although handhelds occupy a niche in the country’s growing gaming market, popular products in the category such as the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck remain in demand among loyal fans. Although Nintendo and Valve do not have official presence in India, import models of the two PDAs are easily available through third-party sellers on e-commerce websites. In July, Asus officially launched the ROG Ally portable gaming device in India. Priced at Rs 69,990, the Asus ROG Ally RC71L is powered by an AMD Z1 Extreme processor, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, and features a 7-inch LCD display. The PDA can be purchased from the Asus or Flipkart online stores, as well as from Asus and ROG branded stores.
Lenovo Legion Go is equipped with an 8.8-inch QHD+ display with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. It runs on Windows 11 Home with Legion Space software on top. Based on the new AMD Ryzen Z1 processor series, the laptop has up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB of SSD PCIe Gen 4. The available storage can be expanded up to 2 TB using a microSD card slot.
