The Moto G85 5G has surfaced on a benchmarking website, which means the company’s next mid-range G-series smartphone could debut soon. The Lenovo-owned smartphone maker launched the Moto G84 5G in September 2023, and the phone’s successor could come with an updated Snapdragon chip built on Qualcomm’s 4nm technology. According to the listing of the upcoming smartphone, the Moto G85 5G will run on Android 14 out of the box. It was previously spotted on the retailer’s website, giving enthusiasts an idea of what to expect in terms of price.
Benchmarking website Geekbench (via MySmartPrice ) recently published a listing of the Moto G85 5G, shedding light on the successor to the Moto G84 5G. It reveals that the phone will be powered by an octa-core processor with two performance cores clocked at 2.30GHz and six efficient cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.02GHz.
The listed processor for the Moto G85 is codenamed “malmo,” a name that doesn’t match any existing models from the American chipmaker. There is speculation that the phone will be equipped with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 3 processor, which Qualcomm has not yet announced.
The Geekbench listing for the Moto G85 5G shows that the phone scored 939 points in the single-core test and 2092 points in the multi-core test. This is slightly higher than the last tests for its predecessor, which had a Snapdragon 4 Gen 3 chip.
Motorola’s upcoming G-series smartphone will run on Android 14, according to a Geekbench listing. It is also shown to have 8GB of RAM, but a recent report suggests that it will also come in another 12GB variant, which has been listed on the European retailer’s website for a price of €300 (roughly Rs. 27,100 ). We can expect to hear more about the Moto G85 5G in the coming weeks (or months — the company has yet to announce plans for a successor to the Moto G84 5G) before its debut.
