Peer-to-peer payments platform Valora is the latest company to make a foray into the Web3-centric smartphone class. As the trend of merging smartphone apps with Web3 technology seems to be on the rise, the US company has announced a new service called ‘Mobile Stack’, which will act as a platform for running Web3 apps to run as smoothly as possible on smartphones. . Valora says it can help Web3 service providers create and offer interactive applications with a one-touch user onboarding process via email in just minutes.
Velora’s web3 ambitions
Jackie Bona, co-founder and COO at Valora, confirmed the development over the weekend via a post on X. The 45-second clip explained how Valora’s Mobile Stack would allow people to instantly create decentralized applications (dApps).
The gathering will also offer onramp services to buy crypto through fiat currencies to navigate within the ecosystem of these dApps. Furthermore, Mobile Stack will also facilitate easy swiping for crypto tokens.
“I’m excited to present a project the Valora team is working on called Mobile Stack. I see a huge opportunity to deliver exceptional user experiences through mobile that brings consumers around the world to web3,” Bona said, re-sharing a video showing how the Mobile Stack worked.
Mobile Stack’s official website states that only eight of the top 100 Web3 companies offer mobile-based experiences, which Valora analyzed before launching its Mobile Stack platform.
The company reportedly describes the current ways to make Web3 apps compatible with smartphones as ‘cumbersome’.
About connecting web3 to smartphones
In recent years, the concept of Web3-integrated telephony devices has attracted the attention of industry players.
Binance-backed CoralApp recently unveiled its flagship smartphone called the Coral Phone, which will have Web3 capabilities.
In May, Africa-based technology company Jambo unveiled its JamboPhone, which supports more Web3 functionality.
Solana Labs was the first major Web3 company to bring a smartphone and Web3 together in 2022 with its Solana Saga smartphone.
Despite this progress, the Web3 sector is far from completing the merger with smartphones. According to Mobile Stack’s official blog, this issue arose due to the significant challenges faced in building secure and comprehensive crypto mobile applications.
“Creating an intuitive user interface for such complex functionality was even more of a challenge. Without a simple method for designing user-friendly interfaces that can effectively manage these multiple requirements, Web3 will miss every opportunity to bring new users into the Onchain ecosystem,” the post noted.
