According to a source, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will soon receive a new software update that will improve various camera functions. Since the smartphone’s launch in January, buyers have reported several issues, including shutter lag and motion blur issues plaguing the camera. While Samsung has since rolled out several One UI updates to the phone, the most notable of which came in April that included improved user experience, there’s no official word on a camera fix, but that’s said to be changing soon.
Samsung Galaxy S24 camera update
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), tipster Ice Universe claimed that Samsung will soon start rolling out the August update for the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. It is supposed to bring fixes for issues related to white balance optimization, HDR optimization, image over-processing and video scaling.

However, it will not include optimization for telephoto and night-time images taken with 10x optical zoom, according to the advisory. This is due to an issue where images taken at 9.9x magnification look better compared to those taken at 10x magnification, which have more noise.
The update was first hinted at by the same whistleblower in May, saying that the One UI 6.1.1 update for the Galaxy S24 Ultra would improve the camera. At the time, it was speculated that the update was still in its early stages and would undergo testing before a public rollout. Notably, Samsung will introduce the update with its Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 smartphones, which will be unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10.
Other updates
Over the past few months, Samsung has introduced features based on Galaxy AI – its suite of artificial intelligence (AI) features – to other smartphones as well. These include Circle to Search, Live Call Translate, Chat Assist, Note Assist and Generative Edit. However, not all of them made it to older Samsung phones, possibly due to hardware limitations.
