The company has confirmed that the Google Pixel 9 series will be launched on August 13. Ahead of the launch, a new report has revealed three new artificial intelligence (AI) features that could come with the smartphone. These features are reportedly coming under the Google AI branding, a first for the smartphone series. The new Screenshots feature is part of a trio, and based on its description, it appears to be a slightly different take on Microsoft’s recently announced AI Recall feature for its Copilot+ PC.
Google Pixel 9 will reportedly get a screenshot feature with artificial intelligence
In May, Microsoft introduced the Recall function based on artificial intelligence. It periodically takes screenshots of the PC screen and stores them to create a chronological log of user activity on the device. Later, when the user asks the AI what they did on a particular day and time, the AI on the device can process the information from the screenshot database and share it.
However, this feature has been criticized for its privacy intrusion and lack of security and encryption. Notably, Microsoft promised to add several security features and delayed the launch of Recall.

But according to a report from Android Authority, Google has a slightly different take on the feature. It is reported that the smartphone does not take screenshots on its own, but saves manually taken screenshots with additional metadata. These will include information such as the program name, web link, etc. Artificial intelligence on the device, which could be a Gemini Nano AI model, would then process those images and respond to user queries around them, the report said, citing an unnamed source.
While the use case and exact implementation of the feature are currently unknown, the Screenshots feature could offer users a way to organize and quickly retrieve information from saved screenshots.
More Google AI features are reportedly coming next month
According to the report, two more Google AI features will also be coming along with AI screenshots. First among them is Add Me. The description of the feature in the image published by the publication says: “Make sure everyone is present in the group photo.” Based on this information, the feature appears to be an addition to last year’s Best Take feature, which enhances people’s expressions in a group photo. Add Me can help users in situations where a certain group photo is missing several members. Users can take other group photos and combine them with the target photo to add missing members.

Another feature is called “Studio” with the description “Imagine it”. Pixel makes it.” While it looks like a regular AI image generator in the description, the report claims it can do more than that, potentially allowing users to edit images and create stickers. If true, the feature would be similar to Apple’s AI-powered Image Playground feature announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2024.
Apart from that, the shared screenshot also highlights that Circle to Search and the built-in Gemini AI assistant will also be delivered as part of Google AI when the Pixel 9 series arrives.
