The next Resident Evil game is currently in development, publisher Capcom confirmed during a summer demo broadcast on Tuesday. The director of the new game in the cult survival-horror series will be the director of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Koshi Nakanishi. Capcom has not revealed the official title of the game, but it is expected to be Resident Evil 9. The last main game in the series, Resident Evil Village, was released in 2021.
The next Resident Evil is confirmed
Nakanishi appeared at the end of the Capcom Next live stream to announce the start of work on the next Resident Evil title. “We’re making a new Resident Evil,” The Resident Evil 7 director said during the broadcast. “It was really hard to figure out what to do after 7. But I found it and to be honest, it feels substantial,” he added.

Development of the next Resident Evil game will be led by Nakanishi, who directed 2017’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Capcom has not revealed more details about the upcoming RE title and its launch window. “I can’t share any details yet, but I hope you’re excited for the day,” Nakanishi said.
Capcom Next announcement
The announcement came at the end of the Capcom Next presentation, which focused on three games from the publisher. During the livestream, the publisher showed off a demo for Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess ahead of its July 19 release.
Capcom also announced Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, which will bring several improvements to the gameplay and visuals of 2006’s Dead Rising, which is scheduled for release on September 19.
Finally, the publisher has confirmed that Resident Evil 7 is now available on Apple devices. The survival-horror game can be played on iPhone 15 Pro models and all iPad and Mac models powered by Apple’s M-series chips.
Resident Evil Village, the last mainline game in the RE series, was released in May 2021 for PS4, PS5, Stadia, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. At the end of last year, the game was ported to iPhone and iPad. Last month, Capcom confirmed that the game had sold more than 10 million units worldwide in the three years since its launch, making it the fastest game in the Resident Evil series to reach that milestone.
